The River
The river takes its time to move on, flowing
With a steady determination, a vein
Carrying the very lifeblood of the world, and having
Carved its way through beds of rock with
The steady stream of time. And also with time has come
The mosses, spreading their soft blanket of green growth
Among and around the carved rock, as the cool wetness
Gathers there. For the river has been
Here for the longest of time, carrying its load of
Refreshing coolness for longer than grandfathers
Or great-grandfathers have ever known.
And beyond the banks of the river, the ebbing boundaries
Which the river has followed for years, sits a
Dense fores
